Create an external flow volume around the model. This should generally extend in front of the model by 2-3 times the characteristic length (L) of your model, and behind it by 6-8L. The other sides will vary depending on what is being simulated and which airstream profiles are of interest, but these will generally be on a scale of 1-5L ● Once the external flow volume is created, delete your model from it by selecting the volume, right clicking to invert the selection, and deleting the body in the menu General Setup ● Create an Incompressible simulation. Any of the lower four turbulence models on the list may be used, but look into which makes the most sense for your simulation. Boundary Conditions ● The sides of the simulation box that will be used as the inlet and outlet should be set to velocity inlet and pressure outlet ○ The flow velocity is set with Ux , you may also test cross-winds by changing Uy . Uz can remain as 0 ○ The pressure outlet should be set as a fixed value with gauge pressure as 0 ● The other four sides will be sat as walls. No-slip and slip conditions should be set accordingly: for example, if you’re modeling a car, the wall acting as the road should be set as no-slip
