This project analyzes the electromagnetic efficiency of a field shaper assembly for Magnetic Pulse Welding (MPW), specifically focusing on the sensitivity of magnetic pressure to variations in the transient electric load supply. Utilizing SimScale’s Transient Magnetics solver, the simulation performs a parameter study on two critical process variables: Flyer Conductivity: Sweeping various aluminum grades (% IACS) to simulate different alloy compositions and thermal states. Radial Air Gap: Varied to represent tooling alignment deviations and manufacturing tolerances. Key Outputs:The simulation extracts Magnetic Flux Density (B), Lorentz Forces, and Ohmic Losses. These outputs allow for a post-process analytical verification to determine if the system generates sufficient kinetic energy for a successful weld before the material reaches its thermal failure (melting) limit.
