Testing modeling with FreeCad and running on SimScale. Got proper velocity profile: developing flow near entry region, eventual developed flow with classic turbulent profile. Appears to work well! For FreeCad model I made a cylinder, then subtracted out another smaller diameter cylinder from it. Voila, a pipe. Saved it as STEP file and imported into SimScale. Extracted the volume as shown in SimScale video on Youtube. Ran it as incompressible, turbulent, after setting inlet, outlet and wall conditions (see SimScale tutorial on branching pipe flow).
