CFD validation of an integrated DN40 siphon with side-flow based grease separation. The project analyzes an innovative domestic sink siphon (SINKGUARD V3) that combines: - A DIN EN 274 compliant main flow path (DN40, self-cleaning) - A passive side-flow separation zone for fats and oils (calm zone) - A minimum 50 mm water seal acting as an odor trap Objective: To validate the hydraulic performance before physical prototyping by means of CFD: - Main flow velocity ≥ 0.7 m/s at 0.6 l/s (DIN EN 274) - Pressure drop ≤ 120% of a standard DN40 siphon - No recirculation or dead zones in the main flow - Reduced shear stress and low velocities in the calm zone for gravity-based separation The simulation focuses on incompressible water flow, slot-induced side flow, and flow stabilization within the separation chamber.
