This project aims to simulate the bending stress and vertical deflection of a simply supported steel bridge beam under a central point load of 20,000 N. The beam represents a simplified model of a real bridge section, inspired by the 2018 Morandi Bridge collapse. Using Finite Element Analysis (FEA), the stress distribution and displacement will be analyzed and compared with theoretical values obtained from classical beam equations. The objective is to understand how elemental distortion develops under heavy static loads and to validate manual calculations with numerical simulation results.
