This project focuses on the structural and aerodynamic analysis of a rocket fin using FEM and CFD simulations in SimScale. The objective is to study the behavior of the rocket fin under aerodynamic loading conditions and evaluate its structural safety and aerodynamic performance. In the FEM analysis, the rocket fin geometry is created and assigned with Aluminum 6061 material properties. Structural simulations are performed to analyze Von Mises stress, deformation, critical stress regions, and factor of safety under aerodynamic pressure loading. In the CFD analysis, airflow around the rocket fin is simulated to study pressure distribution, velocity contours, wake formation, drag effects, and aerodynamic stability. Different mesh refinements are used to improve simulation accuracy and compare results. The project also includes mesh dependency studies, engineering interpretation of results, and optional fin design optimization to reduce stress concentration and aerodynamic drag. The complete project demonstrates the practical application of aerospace simulation techniques using Finite Element Method (FEM) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tools for rocket component analysis and design improvement.
