Although these aircraft were designed using wind tunnel testing and empirical methods, modern Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) provides a powerful tool to analyze their aerodynamic performance in detail. CFD allows engineers to numerically simulate airflow around aircraft surfaces, offering insights into lift, drag, pressure distribution, and flow separation that were not accessible during the 1940s.
