The “Rocket Fin FEM and CFD Analysis” project focuses on analyzing the structural strength and aerodynamic performance of a rocket fin using computational simulation techniques. The project combines Finite Element Method (FEM) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to study how the fin behaves under aerodynamic loading and airflow conditions. In the FEM section, structural analysis is performed to determine Von Mises stress, deformation, critical stress regions, and factor of safety of the rocket fin under external aerodynamic forces. Mesh refinement studies are conducted to understand the effect of mesh quality on simulation accuracy and computational performance. In the CFD section, airflow around the rocket fin is analyzed by creating an external flow domain and applying suitable boundary conditions such as inlet velocity, outlet pressure, and wall conditions. Pressure contours, velocity contours, and streamlines are studied to understand aerodynamic behavior, drag formation, wake regions, and flow stability. The project also includes a design optimization study where the rocket fin geometry is modified to improve structural safety and reduce aerodynamic drag. The overall objective of the project is to develop understanding of aerospace simulation workflows, engineering analysis, numerical methods, and interpretation of simulation results using modern computational tools.
