The purpose of the project is to simulate the diffuser-augmented micro hydrokinetic turbine and investigate power and thrust force over its operating range. The hydrokinetic turbine is a low head turbine design which harnesses the kinetic energy of flowing water to generate power which could be used to drive generator or hydraulic pump.
