# Project Description ## Rocketry Training – Aerospace Simulation Workshop Project This project focuses on the structural and aerodynamic analysis of a rocket fin using advanced engineering simulation techniques such as Finite Element Method (FEM) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) in SimScale software. The main objective of the project is to understand how rocket components behave under aerodynamic forces and airflow conditions. In the FEM section, the rocket fin is analyzed to determine stress distribution, deformation, and structural safety under applied loads. Material properties, boundary conditions, and mesh quality are carefully defined to obtain accurate engineering results. The project also includes a mesh study and factor of safety calculation to evaluate the reliability of the design. In the CFD section, airflow around the rocket fin is simulated to study pressure distribution, velocity contours, streamlines, drag effects, and wake formation. This helps in understanding the aerodynamic behavior and stability of the rocket during flight conditions. The project further includes design optimization, where the fin geometry is modified to reduce stress concentration and aerodynamic drag while improving overall performance. This project provides practical exposure to aerospace simulation workflows, engineering analysis, and result interpretation techniques used in real-world aerospace industries. It also helps students develop knowledge in structural mechanics, fluid dynamics, meshing, and engineering decision-making using simulation tools.
