This project investigates heat losses and water waste in domestic hot water distribution systems during the start-up phase of a shower. The objective is to analyze the influence of pipe length on hot water delivery time and thermal losses, and to evaluate the potential of a simple heat recovery system. A CFD and heat transfer simulation will be performed on a hot water pipe carrying water at approximately 55°C. Different pipe lengths (2 m, 5 m and 10 m) will be studied to determine the time required for hot water to reach the outlet and the associated thermal losses. The numerical results will be compared with experimental measurements obtained from a small-scale prototype built with a water reservoir, a circulation pump, PER pipes and digital temperature sensors.
