General Rule of Thumb Regarding Master and Slave Surfaces in FEA Studies

  • Using the face with the fewest amount of cells as the master face is computationally cheaper
  • If there are multiple components with different materials, the surface with a hard solid should be the master surface.
  • However, if the materials are the same, check the surface geometry to see if the geometry is rounded or flat. The flat surface should be applied as the master in this case.
