Hi everyone,

I’m working on a simulation for a new heat sink design and am running into meshing issues. The geometry is fairly complex with many small fins, and the mesh keeps failing near the edges.

Here is a link to my project: **[Paste the URL of your project here]**

**Steps I’ve taken:**
I’ve tried refining the mesh on the fins and adjusting the curvature refinement, but I’m still getting errors.

**Specific question:**
Does anyone have advice on what mesh settings work best for high-aspect-ratio features like fins? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi @pwolf3848,

Would it be possible for you to send me the link to the project? also please make sure that the project is shared with support, so that I can take a deeper look at the problem.

Thanks!
Bryan

Hi @pwolf3848,

Just following up on this thread in case the meshing issue is still unresolved.

For dense heat-sink fins, one thing I would check is the **minimum edge length / small-feature handling**. If the mesher is trying to resolve very small sliver edges around the fin tips, increasing the minimum edge length slightly can sometimes be more robust than adding further local refinement.

I would also suggest using the [heat sink meshing tutorial](https://www.simscale.com/docs/tutorials/creating-a-standard-mesh-heat-sink/) as a baseline and keeping the refinement setup as simple as possible at first.

If you are still having issues, please share the **project URL** and make sure the project is [shared with Support](https://www.simscale.com/docs/platform/collaboration/#share-project-with-support), so we can inspect the failing faces and mesh settings in more detail.

Thanks,
Bryan
