I am just wondering what is the difference between scalar source and species transport
and would be happy if any one could tell me which is more convenient for HVAC simulation

IMHO the terms are used interchangeably 
That’s not a super long answer but these are my two cents 
Maybe the other guys you tagged can add their thoughts to this as well.
However you could argue that the scalar is always “homogeneous” and the species are not (but have not found any source on that so far).
