I created a new simulation project called 'Regulator-valve-flow-analysis':

A turbulent flow simulation of a regulator valve is demonstrated in this project.

The flow domain has been extracted from the actual valve CAD model and uploaded to SimScale.

The automatic hex-dominant mesh operation for internal flow was used to create two meshes of different fineness. The coarse mesh has around 260 thousand cells, the fine mesh has over three million cells. The objective is to see the impact of the mesh fineness on the simulation results.

The simulation was set up using the steady-state, incompressible flow simulation type applying a k-epsilon turbulence model. A velocity-inlet at the inlet patch and a pressure-outlet boundary condition at the outlet patch was used.
