A lot of screen space could be saved if this is done.
With a little ingenious coding, this can be achieved without affecting the tree sort order 
- I think this feature should be implemented.
- The loss of screen space does not bother me

EDIT: The only problem is that I see no way of correlating your new auto generated names to faces in the meshing log layering tables 
Any way to make the name decipherable compared to the meshing log faces ?
