Colling Time of a Tube Welded

i’m trying to analyze cooling time in air of a tube in air after welding.

Type of analysis: transient non linear heat transfer

I set the model in order to impose initial temperature of the part of the figure:

This tube is in a flow region (air) at 25°C and te rest of the tube is at 25°C… Boundary condition: 25°C of air and convective flux on tube,

Material of tubes: Steel

simulation doesn work.

Hello!

Could you please post the project link (the URL) in the post? Otherwise we can’t see what is wrong in the setup.

Thanks!

Hi following the link to the project:

Thanks!

I noticed that you currently have a transient conjugate heat transfer analysis, which is quite complex to set up. Not to mention that transient analyses tend to take quite long to run for CHT cases, since the times to cool down/heat up the parts are quite long.

Would you consider switching to a transient “Heat transfer” analysis type instead? You would be able to explicitly set a convective heat flux boundary condition to the boundaries of the pipe.

Generally speaking, since this analysis type deals only with the solid parts, the set up should be much more straightforward and much quicker to run, even for very long transient periods.
