I have been a long time user of MSC.Nastran, MSC.Marc and NX.Nastran, and so I was attempting a very simple model to test:
- Bonded Contact across incongruent meshes
- Non-linear large displacements with Pressure on a flat plate.
It is well known that a pressure load on a flat plate gives very wrong results with linear FEA, which is why i wanted to run a non-linear analysis.
A limitation I see in SimScale at this point is the inability to create SHELL / 2D elements, and so thin plate structures like this need to be meshed with 3D Tet meshes, resulting in very large models for what should be quite a simple Plate element model.
Thanks for your inputs and the support. I am very excited to see the progress and direction of Simscale, and will continue to build test models like this to see how well it works for real engineering problems.
