Can't use conjugate heat transfer for a simple pipe model

Hi everyone,

i created a simple pipe elbow and would like to simulate the heat from a flow going into the pipe itself. However, after importing my stl file and the creation of an inner region, I cannot pick the conjugate heat transfer option. Any suggestions?

Hi!

That’s actually expected. For .stl files, the contact detection (which is naturally important for CHT analysis) is not straight forward.

Therefore, currently .stl geometries are not supported for CHT analysis types. Would it be possible to save your geometry in a different format? The following ones should work, a priori:

  • Parasolid (.x_t, .x_b)
  • SolidWorks (.sldprt, .sldasm)
  • Autodesk Inventor (.iam, *.ipt)
  • Rhino (.3dm)
  • CATIA (.CATPart, .CATProduct)
  • ACIS (.sat, .sab)
  • STEP (.stp, .step)
  • IGES (.igs, .iges)

Cheers
