CAD Problem

Hello, I am a 17-year-old student new to SimScale and don’t know how many things work. I am trying to do a wind analysis on a Nascar car in order to calculate the coefficient of friction, etc.

When I import the car and try to get an enclosure I get the error of “The geometry could not be combined. Please consider cleanup operations in your CAD tool.”

I would appreciate any type of help.

I have a few recommendations for your case:

  1. Try to export your CAD model to .step or Parasolid format. STL is not suitable for this type of analysis.
  2. Make sure no sheet faces/shell bodies appear after the import of the model. There are two main rules which are crucial for any flow simulation: Your CAD needs to be watertight (there must not be any holes except inlets and outlets) & your CAD must only contain solid parts. Shells or Sheets must not appear.
