In this project the bending of an aluminium pipe is done via a rolling process. The geometry was created on Onshape and subsequently uploaded to SimScale platform. It was then meshed using tetrahedralization with local refinements on the platform. The contact areas were refined. The geometry and mesh are shown in figures below.
For the analysis nonlinear static structural was selected. The penalty contact with higher stiffness was used for the contact between pipe, roller and molder. The pipe was assigned an elastoplastic material by uploading the stress strain data of the aluminium. The molder was fixed in all directions whereas the roller is rotated by 130 degree clockwise using rotating motion under constraints. The results below show the von Mises stress and total nonlinear strain formed in the bended aluminium pipe.
