I created a new simulation project called 'Bell crank stress analysis':

In this project a structural analysis of a bell crank is performed.

The CAD model of the bell crank, shown in the next figure, was created in Inventor 2016. It was converted and uploaded in STEP format to the SimScale platform.


There are considered two meshes in order to compare and get more accurate results. The first one is coarse, second order, fully automatic tetrahedral-dominant. The resulting mesh, with around 45000 volumes, is shown in the next figure.
The refined mesh remained as second order, but it has more than the double of volumes of the coarse one. It is shown in the next figure.

The bell crank is fixed from the inner cylindrical surface of the pivot and two forces are applied in the inner cylindrical surfaces of the extremes: 8N in x-direction in the single end and 12N in the xz-plane in the double end. We can compare, for example, the displacements obtained with the coarse mesh and the refined mesh in the next figures.


And the total strains and von Mises stresses in the following pictures.
