Applying boundary conditions to points

Hi SimScale,

I have a really basic query. How do I apply a boundary condition to an isolates point (vertex) of my geometry. I’ve been trying to use the “Fixed Value” option to hold a point/node in 2 degrees of freedom but the GUI seems to indicate that the selection has to be a face or a volume (“Pick face, volumes”).

Any help you can give me would be appreciated.

you cant apply BC to point. you have to select the face.

At present it has constraints applied in the Z direction. I was hoping to minimally constrain the model in the X and Y axis which is why I was looking for boundary conditions that I could apply to a point.

I can constrain one of the small faces but and it won’t influence the results much but I often run models where I would need to be able to apply a minimal set of constraints and so I was wondering if there was a way to do this.

Hi Ian!

Try working with the classic face BC approach and see if the new mesher allows you to create a BC with a point according to your needs.

We are working on this to make sure that this will be enabled in the future but there is no specific release date yet.
