The geometry was uploaded and meshed using the snappyHexMesh tool with a y+ of 30. The resulting mesh consists of 3,350,000 cells and is shown in the figure below.
The simulation validates the robustness of the SimScale platform for aerodynamics simulations. Post processing of results gives insight into the drag and velocity distribution around the Ahmed Body, and validates the solver. The figures below show comparisons of simulated velocity contours with experimental data at different wind tunnel cross-sections. Shown below are comparison graphs of velocity profiles on the symmetry plane at different distances in the wind tunnel.
