I created a new simulation project called 'Aerodynamic Analysis of the TSC-03E':

CFD-Simulation of 2015s Formula Student Car of Team Starcraft e.V.

I downloaded the results and did some post-processing locally, similar to what I did in the Alfa Romeo P2 simulation.

Drag coefficient

The nose of the vehicle is quite streamlined compared to what comes after the front wheel.

The wheels and driver contribute substantially to pressure drag.

Downforce

As this car has no aero elements, it doesn’t generate downforce. It fact, the shape of the nose creates some lift with and overall end results of a -0.091 downforce coefficient (lift). The distribution creates a downforce coefficient at the wheels of:

  • front wheels: -0.134 (-1.17 N @ 20 m/s)
  • rear wheels: 0.042 (0.37 N @ 20 m/s)

The front bottom is clearly to blame for the lift.

I hope this helps better identify areas of improvement.
