Baja SAE is an intercollegiate engineering design competition organized by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). The goal in Baja SAE racing is to design, build and race an off-road vehicle that can withstand rough terrain and harsh racing conditions.
The competition consists of static and dynamic events. The dynamic events include: Acceleration, Hill Climb or Traction Event, Maneuverability, Specialty Events (Rock Crawl, Mud Bog, and Suspension) and Endurance. In the static events, the teams are judged on ergonomics, functionality, engineering,cost, and overall vehicle design.
The SAE Baja Series consisted of three competitions: Baja SAE California, Baja SAE Kansas, and Baja SAE Illinois.
Online Course | Off-Road Vehicle Design Workshop
In the 2-session workshop, participants will receive a hands-on, interactive introduction to nonlinear Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), the two analysis types commonly used for the Baja SAE student design competitions. All participants will learn how to leverage the free, cloud-based SimScale platform for their own projects and designs.
Students who complete the video lectures, step-by-step exercises, and quizzes to 100% will receive a special SimScale Certificate of Completion which can be added to a resume or course profile on Linkedin.
Each session consists of:
A 60-minute video lecture
A step-by-step exercise to help you put what you have learned in the lecture directly into practice
