CFD Software SimScale product overview

SimScale Computational Fluid Dynamics Modeling Software Allows You To Easily Test, Validate & Optimize Your 3D CAD Models Via A Standard Web Browser.

How It Works

1

Upload A CAD Model

Upload a CAD model of the component you want to analyze or copy one of the thousands of publicly available CFD modeling projects as a template for your own simulation setup. See it instantly displayed in 3D and interact with it just as you would with a desktop CAD software.

2

Set Up Your CFD Analysis

Set up your CFD analysis in the Simulation Designer. The SimScale platform provides capabilities for solid mechanics, fluid dynamics and thermal simulation. Once you have chosen the analysis type, the project tree will guide you through the complete workflow of the simulation.

3

Analyze The Results

As soon as your CFD model is completed, you can access the results on the platform or download them locally. Validate your design decisions early in the design process, identify optimization potential and predict the performance of your product before building the first physical prototype.

Perform The CFD Modeling You Need

Incompressible and compressible flow

Incompressible And Compressible Flow

Under certain conditions, compressibility can become a non-negligible factor. Accurately modeling compressibility is important in order to design products better and making them safer. The CFD software component of SimScale allows the simulation of both incompressible and compressible flow in a robust and accurate way, as our validation cases demonstrate. Applications include airplanes, car spoilers, mufflers, airfoils, injectors, valves, ducts and more.

Laminar and turbulent flow

Laminar And Turbulent Flow

SimScale supports modeling of both laminar and turbulent flow regimes. In CFD, in order to solve flow equations, accurate numerical methods, powerful turbulence models, and intensive computing power are required. SimScale offers all in one tool, for both steady and transient states, with multiple turbulence models, including k-omega SST and k-epsilon. Pipes, cyclone separators, smoke propagation or cleanroom design are among the applications.

Mass and thermal transport

Mass And Thermal Transport

Commonly seen in applications such as water purification, contamination control or analyzing gas or smoke propagation, passive scalar transport allows CFD analysis of matter transport in an incompressible flow. You can simulate mass transport in a fluid flow, applied, for example, in advanced plant simulation. Furthermore, convective and conjugate heat transfer enhance the simulation capability, with a thermal modeling tool for conduction and convection.

Multiphase Flow

Multiphase Flow

The modeling of multiphase or multicomponent flows using the volume of fluid (VoF) method for interface capturing is possible. SimScale uses the OpenFOAM solver interFoam which is designed for two non-mixing fluids such as oil or air in the water medium. This approach allows the modeling of laminar or turbulent free surface flows that are often found in marine applications or process engineering.

Advanced Modeling

Advanced Modeling

SimScale provides tools for modeling a complex fluid flow interacting with rotating parts and porous media. The Computational Fluid Dynamics software component of the SimScale platform will enable you to run simulations with a steady state using rotating boundary conditions and a Multiple Reference Frame (MRF) or unsteady approach using Arbitrary Mesh Interface (AMI).

Ben Lewis

I loved the fact that I could do what I need to do in a browser. I started working without installing any software. Using any computer I could upload the model and start the analysis. That was the big “wow” moment.
